On the afternoon of April 17th, Prof. Li Li, Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Global Engagement of the University of Exeter, visited our School and held an exchange event in Meeting Room 218. VIPs attended the meeting were as followings:
Jun Tao, CPC Secretary of the School of Information Management, Wuhan University;
Xiaoguang Wang, Dean of the School of Information Management, Wuhan University;
Xiaoli Liu, Deputy Director of the Office of International Affairs, Wuhan University;
Sijia Hu, Director of the Office of Europe-Asia-Africa Affairs, Wuhan University; and
Liang Zhao, Associate Professor at the School of Information Management, Wuhan University.

Xiaoguang Wang delivered a welcome speech. He stated that the innovative practices of the University of Exeter in fields such as digital humanities highly align with the disciplinary development direction of our School. He expressed the expectation that taking this exchange as an opportunity, substantive cooperation achievements could be formed in high-end academic cooperation and exchange, as well as student joint training, so as to jointly create an innovative model program for Sino-UK higher education cooperation.
Jun Tao emphasized the strategic significance of Li Li's visit. He pointed out that as an important link for Sino-UK higher education cooperation, Li Li's visit would inject new momentum into the talent cultivation of the two universities. Wuhan University and the University of Exeter have broad cooperation space on the path of international development, and this meeting is expected to open a brand-new chapter of two-way exchange.
In the exchange session, the Office of International Affairs, school leaders, and Li Li had in-depth discussions on the international development strategy. Li Li shared the successful cases of the University of Exeter in digital humanities, digital archives, student exchange, and joint training programs, spoke highly of the innovative practices of the School in the field of talent cultivation, and clearly expressed the intention to deepen cooperation. After consultation, the two sides reached a preliminary cooperation framework on deepening cooperation and exchange as well as student joint training programs.
Xiaoli Liu focused on explaining that the Ministry of Education, guided by international exchange policies, accurately empowers the disciplinary construction and student cultivation of universities via special project funding. The functional departments of the Wuhan University simultaneously build a "University-School linkage system" and customize differentiated funding schemes for students based on the policy framework. Sijia Hu disassembled typical practical cases, elaborating in detail how in the joint training program between Wuhan University and the University of Bristol, by implementing the optimization measures of the training program jointly discussed and determined by both sides, the talent cultivation objectives were accurately achieved while ensuring the cultivation quality. Based on her own teaching practice, Liang Zhao discussed the innovative path of international talent cultivation from the dimensions of cross-cultural curriculum design, faculty collaboration, and industry-university-research cases, combining curriculum reconstruction and global competence cultivation.
This visit further consolidated the cooperation foundation between the two universities. The two sides will deepen collaboration in dimensions such as academic research, talent cultivation, and international development, jointly promoting the process of higher education internationalization.
